Hi,
I'm having trouble locating correct front brake discs. Two suppliers have given me 255mm diameter discs but the ones on the car are circa 240 mm. Any ideas where I can obtain correct discs other than Toyota? I wonder why the confusion?
Thanks

Gaz mr-s

I've just fitted 2 sets of 255mm discs.

Gary - I got 2 advisories on my front brake discs (1 for near side, 1 for off side) at my MoT last month, was planning to fit some new front discs and pads before next MoT. What did you get? Was it the good value route (cheap n cheerful) or the exotic route (a bit more £)? Where did you get them from?

Thanks.

I suggest check the correct diameter rather than going on what is there already. 255 F / 263 R is what is shown on the point of reference I checked.

I used Pagid on my daily, they are well respected in OE market. Those that I bought have a protective coating that remains on the non contact surfaces and maintains a rust free appearance. They also work as well as the OE product.

Thanks, they sound good, think I spotted those being knocked out on the MR2-Ben website. Will order some when the time is right.

Mr2 Ben rarely represents good value imho.
Not sure I've ever bought anything from them.
Usually wait until Euro has a sale and buy paggid or brembo from them.
Or get stuff direct from EBC.
Was it @AdamR28 that recommend apex pads?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I generally buy from ebay John. I bought 2 sets of discs, one for Caroline, & in the week before d/d I discovered that the ones on the blue car needed changed. I needed pads quick, & no transport. ECP had an offer on Brembo pads, so I picked those.

Caroline's car had Brembo in it, & the pedal on her car was good.  Scott mentions Apec..indeed recommended by Adam that tracks 'The Munter'. I got a set of cheap Apec from an individual on ebay, & Caroline likes them...'feel just the same' she said.

The discs are Blueprint, coated, - & a superior looking coating to that used by Borg & Beck, & also Pagid. But if you want the inner unswept area to stay rust-free it needs that painted, as with all others, afaik.

The same disc is used on some Yaris, & cam sometimes be had cheaper.... but check the 255mm diameter, as some Yaris use 235mm.   Wait for a 10-20% offer on ebay if you can.

Same area on my pagids. Just fine.

Should have studied my front brake set-up more closely. I can see that the pads are not worn across their whole area and have a shoulder on their outsides. That's because the 240mm discs are too small diameter. The 255 mm ones are a perfect fit. Using Unipart btw. I guess Unipart are clearing their stock as the discs are stamp-dated 2010. Glad they have not gone off in the box lol.
Thanks

Have recently got a set of mtec from TCB and he was very helpful with advice and so on- if you're looking to get a different set.

Had Pagids on front and back now for several years no problems.

Yep! Been great for me on various cars, road track and race. The discs are decent too.

Bought the pads last night and some cheap discs.

In need myself of new front discs. Pagid from ECP £98, Mtec c-hook £70. Will go with the latter given I've used them for the last 10 track days without issue. They've also seen a variety of pads mated to them, and never complained.

You know that 'the Tyrant' is in the brakes business....you might be interested in what he knows/thinks.

Indeed! It's a set of his own brake pads that will be mated to said discs.

For what is worth it, from car parts for less,  brembo circa 80 and pagid 65.

I believe I'm correct in saying that ECP/ Euro Car Parts are in some way affiliated with Car Parts 4 Less.
I have noticed that the latter is typically less pricey than the former but both change their prices very frequently and so buyer should be aware at time of need, or in advance of that need because sometimes delivery is not as stated from Car Parts.

If you go to the About us section in CPFL site and check company info you will see is under euro car parts company.
Normally, is cheaper indeed (well without physical stores kind of expected). Indicated starting prices are like rollercoaster. But, prices after their discount, are relatively stable.
