So from the title, I have my gearbox in pieces and by just using my untrain eye everything looks quite okay. There werent many metal particles on the magnet and the bearings looks okay. Just one of the diff ones has some small scuffs on the cone thingies but nothing on the other metal parts. The gears itself look quite shiny and they have some small dings on every tooth but I guess thats okay.

The question is: What should I look for? I can make some pictures and upload them on google drive as well.

what was the problem in the first place?

Some whine when accelerating and was leaking oil, leaks will be fixed but cant see anything wrong with the gears.

I would change all the bearings for the that.

Generally replace the Bearings while it's open..

However, when you replace the bearings on the Diff Carrier, you will need to Re-Shim it..  That is a problem..  I ended up having to machine a Shim to get the Proper 'Pre-Load' on the Bearing Assembly

Finding bearings locally turned out to be quite a challenge. All that they can offer is generic bearings the same size as the ones in the box and I am not sure if I should go with them or not.

I will pass on the diff bearings because of the shims. They look okay, just some rly small scuffs on one of them.

It will almost certainly be the bearings. If you have come this far stripping it down it would be worth getting them sorted or you will have the same noise when back in.
Even if you have a gearbox specialist just install and set the pre load and you do the rest of assembly at least you will have sorted the issue.

Check the synchro rings - I took mine to Rogue motorsports to put in the JUBU 3rd and 4th gears and inspect the box, its not a DIY sort of job due to the need for checking preload and various clearances etc.

Im replacing shaft bearings and 4th gear synchro, plus some slight fixing of the rough edges of the reverse gear. Everything else seems in check. Gears look okay, wont replace diff bearings at this point as I will need to shim them differently. They do not show wear anyways.
