Hi everyone

I have a problem the handbrake cable will not pull up or release,i think that the rubber boot on the inner cable is allowed water down it,is there anyway to release the cable,or do i have to get a new able thanks reggie

Sometimes a cable can be freed up by disconnecting it at both ends and dribbling light lubricant down it and slowly working the inner cable back and forth. In the end, though, you will probably need to replace it.

If it is replacement time, you might as well do them ad a pair.  The left and right cables are slightly different.

If you do try to free it (it takes patience...........) remove the mounting supports & get the rear down to ground level to help the oil flow. It will not 'flow' until you get all the muck out.
If it works, you'll want to protect them....no-one's come forward with a better suggestion than these...

Lubricate the inside & screw them over the cable ends. Fix with small cabe ties, - use a grease or similar to try to seal out water.

The rubber boots on mine have gone on both sides but you can free them up using oil and grease - loosen them off from inside the car and then remove the cable from the 'fork' bracket that holds the end at the caliper, I was able to free mine up by holding the end of the cable then pulling on the outer part a few times.
