A quick look at the specs;

Link has 2 more outputs each for injectors, ignition and auxiliary. Black has 6. Do you really need more?
You only need 4 for the mr2 and 6 aux outputs pretty much allows you connect anything I can think of.

Storm has 3 temperature outputs. Black has 2 just for EGT and however any inputs you have left for IAT, oil, etc.

Black has built in traction control. Link does not.

The more I look at it... The Black is a very clear winner haha
...neutiquam erro.

Yeah I thought the Black looked better too

Well that's that sorted, EMU Black it is! Now just the charge cooler, radiator, pump, clutch, sump and turbo to decide [emoji23][emoji23]

The race guys told me it would be around 2k to purchase, install and map a G4 Link Storm. Does this sound a bit steep? He said the Storm is the cheapest Link ecu that will provide the capabilities for the vvti drive by wire that I need. I looked at the EMU Black and it seems to do the job just as well but it's only about 850 to purchase.

2k for a link storm is spot on. It's 1200 quid plus A and B looms plus sensors mapping and fitting. In fact it will be more than 2k. This is why we really wanted this ECU master group buy.

250bhp is fine on a 1zz bhp doesn't break engines it's torque keep below 250 ftlb and I wouldn't go over 10psi on a gt25 type turbo.

After all my recent experiences I would honestly find the money for a rebuild whilst doing that fit forged rods. Obviously it's not cheap. Reliability is paramount. Can have 1000bhp but it's no fun when the car spends half its life off the road.

That has been my issue Scott, I keep harping back to putting a 2zz in with modifications as I feel it would deliver better reliability.

A straight engine swap is probably best for reliability but you have to be careful some 2zz swaps do feel down on power and my V6 is nothing but trouble.

Also if your looking for a big power hit stock 2zz ain't gonna cut it even if it is massively quick on b roads or tight tracks.

Try the different options if possible and weigh the costs.

I'm looking at a 2zz swap now with se7en cams and baffled sump. I may also still install an EMU Black.

I may consider the supercharger after the swap

Ok, I had a good chat with Lee in Se7en and he has convinced me that a 2zz swap is the way forward, especially if I'm considering adding big hp at a later date. I'm going to install a new diff, cams and sump along with stage 2 clutch and EMU Black ecu. At a later date I'm going to go for a supercharger. So I just bought a brand new turbo manifold for a turbo from turbo kits.com so I'll put it up for sale!

Hope you won't be disappointed.
Best of luck.

At the very least, the 2zz will be a considerably better engine than the 1zz. I'm happy with my decision, it's taken me a while to make and a turbo manifold lol

For me the 2zz isn't better just different.
