Is there any opinions to remap for more power?

Nope. Some small intake and exhaust changes and a mapped piggyback ECU can get you an extra 20hp at an absolute push

That's good Patrick I didn't think you would manage to get more than 12 extra from my car...bring it on  s:lol:  s:lol:

Haha!
I'd happily give it a go.
Can you get your dyno fired up and a wideband a/f gauge hooked up?  s:) :) s:)
I'll bring my pocket calculator and ear plugs

If your mapping skills are level on par with your artistic abilities, I'll give it a miss  s:scared: :scared: s:scared:

The tricky problem for some of us, is who to get to do the mapping?
Those clustered in the northerly half of England get on fine with Noble, but I am struggling down this end. I have thought of Eurospec in Guildford, as they know Hondas and Mazdas very well, but no mention of our car.

Already have Noble in mind, especially when further modifications make it more worthwhile  s:wink:  s:wink:

I've only heard two reviews of Noble, one "ok" and one good. The latter being my emanage.
Other than that, anecdotal evidence of Noble knowing their stuff.
If you ask me, tuning NA is probably reasonably (and relatively!!)  straightforward compared to mapping a turbo or s/c in.
So, any outfit with real demonstrable experience would probably do as long as they tick a few boxes.

Noble mapped mine for FGrob at the time and no complaints !

Noble take a lot of time to map, I can only assume because they're doing it properly. Though I don't know if he is capable of spotting faults such as my vvti being locked out ... or if the mapping caused the lockout.
I have to say I was happy with Noble early days but each later visit it may just be reduced return on investment that jaded me.
He does a good job, and the car was always great to drive afterwards, I'm not sure if the absolute figures of the dyno are 100% correct .... dyno tables always vary from shop to shop and it's heavily weather dependant.

I know Davy got excellent results on the turbo tune, really quite surprising results but very pleasing.

Other people have complained about results from Noble, you have to remember you only get out of it what you put into it. I always made sure my car was tip-top when i took it in for mapping. It is a day of absolute boredom, it's a fair walk into town if you want to peruse the shops and spend the day window shopping, I suppose if you live closer you can drop the car off and continue with a normal day.

Always worth ringing up and talking to him about what you want to achieve, obviously experience is a mixed bag ... but I haven't found anywhere else i trust as much as Noble. Some people swear by RS Tuning in Leeds ... I can't say i was impressed by them when we visited but then they may have uncovered the vvti lockout and a couple of other issues without realising it.

After 'mapping' my old Celica GT-Four, the tune was so lean that I melted a Grade 9 Iriway drag-spec spark plug.

Barge pole. Touch. Wouldn't.

Yeah hence...earplugs..its gonna blow. I'd happily adjust a tune slightly on a naturally aspirated, but wouldn't touch boost

How much do you know about what they did? Or do they not disclose at all? And which ecu?

That's a fair bit of HP out of a 1zz is all. Or have you gone down the route of uprated cams etc?

166bhp is extremely doubtful on an NA 1zz unless it's has stage 3 cams in it, ported head, uprated valve springs, forged roads and increased the rpm limit.

standard un-touched facelift engine.. i bought it as is! 166bhp.

exhaust manifold (unknown make) custom exhaust routed over the subframe, bmc carbon airbox.. may have bigger injectors and maf mod but i dont know.

All i know it that on the dyno sheet it says 166bhp and was mapped by noble.

A standard untouched 1zz makes 148 @ the crank to make that sort of hp it has to have some serious engine work done.

lol... i can only tell you what the guy i bought the car off said. it is a standard un-touched engine.

i will put the dynosheet up on facebook in a bit for you all to see.. on the ROC page.

in my opinion, if you have a road car that you use daily, they will play it safe and keep well away from knock. if you dont use your car often and it gets trailered to the track and you really couldnt give a damn if the engine goes, they can get that little bit closer to the knock limit by advancing the ignition timing.

If you see your mapper using knock detection and actually listening for it.. then you know you have a good mapper! its not all about AFR. you dont need cams, turbos and head work to make decent power. you just need a good mapper.

Methinks, just like my dyno from Noble, they've got their conversion from hp to bhp set rather generously.
