Hi all,
Me again with an exhaust related question!

So the lotus Elise s2 had a 1zz engine and there was also a 2zz and k series variant.

Are either of the 1zz or 2zz exhausts compatible with our cars?

I was trawling the blogs and came across the larini stuff!

Please bear in mind that this questioning will all go away as soon as I get myself a nicer exhaust..... :-) :-) :-)

The original exhaust is very heavy and doesn't sound that good, so you wouldn't want that.

The. As you know you have the Larini and 2bular exhausts. Which sound good, but won't fit directly for our cars, it will need some sort of fabrication and engine mounts etc. Lotus prices are more expensive than Toyota stuff.

In all honestly, your better off with an mr2 exhaust like a cobra or Hayward and Scott etc. It will be cheaper and a lot easier. Or get a custom made one

Hey,
Thanks for the info- I was doing late night eBay trawling and found this:
 m http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 81&alt=web m

It had the words stage 2 in it... And so I thought it MUST be good... s;-) ;-) s;-)  I think most of them have that kind of design that I've seen..
I hadn't heard of Scott or Hayward... I'll have to look them up!
My current thinking was getting r-tec to custom fabricated one for me as they do the single exit for £237... But I have no idea if it's a missed opportunity to get something that fits a better job?

I had a stage 2 on my K series. It was a nice sound but i didn't think it sounded as good as a cobra, probably because it wasn't as loud as a cobra  s:) :) s:)  but it's not comparing apples with apples as it was the k series, but I can't imagine them to differ that much.

I'm not sure how you would even go about mounting that, that sits above the diffuser in the Elise where nothing is in the way. While for that to come out the bottom of the mr2 I think it may get in the way of the bumper?

It's "Haywood & Scott"  s:) :) s:)  one company. Not sure if they do them new anymore though.

What do you mean by a better job? What are you after out of the exhuast?

Be careful if you buy from the company in that ebay link, they are well known in Lotus circles for not being the most reputable of companies.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the info- firstly LOL yes I realised my mistake when I googled them! I guess I'm after an exhaust that would allow for a higher output from the engine? If it were to be upgraded at some point?.

Miles- Thank you for the heads up on that guy- will treat with caution!

Going for a lotus one isn't going to get any more power than any of the other ones. The bhp on the lotuses are the same as ours, so no difference there. In reality, your exhaust isn't going to give any extra oopmh, unless it's coupled with a load of other things that can utilise the exhaust and a mappable ecu to go with it.

If I remember correctly, the Haywood and Scott ones are designed with a turbo in mind? Someone can say whether that's rubbish or not, I can't remember exactly what exhaust was on the turbo I had.

So the difference in power your getting between a Cobra/TTE/custom etc is going to be around 1-2bhp. So just go for which everone you like the sound of and styling of  s:) :) s:)

Sage advice.
Tunning a 1zz NA is an expensive proposition.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Free flowing exhaust on an otherwise stock system shows a 6bhp gain on the dyno for me, years ago.
Ex 2GR-FE roadster. Sold it. Idiot.  Now Jaguar XE-S 380. Officially over by the bins.
