What do you guys think?

I have come across a system to actively control suspension as you drive by measuring g-force and speed. Now this is where my brain is wanting to change it's design a bit and actually attach it's stepper motors to aero foils to instead make a system to actively control the angle of the aero foil to adjust downforce.

To make the system will cost a little over £600 and as some people know I'm currently modifying the bodywork to make it a bit wider.

So is this mad plan of mine going to be worth the effort?

No.
How often are you going to be going fast enough for it to make a difference.
Would it not just be a bragging rights thing?

Surely not worth the weight penalty.

Same could be said for the wide body but with the power rich will be running wont be such a big deal.

I was thinking mainly of the downforce in the bends to keep the rubber from slipping rather than top end. In truth I might get the system anyway for my suspension ie what it was designed for but I could also make it do this aero idea.

Also the wide body will be lighter I recon than stock due to the material

Are you thinking of actively adjusting the rear wing angle to generate more downforce? This would work but as scotte stated the speed required for it to have any effect would be too high for non track use or the wing size would be huge (pikes peak style), you would also probably find the front/rear balance would be lost increasing understeer.

I was thinking about a similar system a while back but rather than adjusting a rear wing, I was going to adjust a front spoiler in the same way as the supra did

however this would probably need a flat floor, side skirts and a rear diffuser to provide the greatest effect but this would be far more effective and operate at lower speeds than a rear wing.  There were some threads on the SpyderChat Autocross forum regarding the benefits of a front splitter.

I would be able to control 4 wings / flaps all at the same time with there own variant. I'm thinking I might just end up doing it even if it is just for fits and giggles
