Hey Guys,
I'd like to add brace- does any one know which is better? The corky breastplate or the matt performance one? Or are they both compatible to fit at the same time?

Cheers,
John

A full set of Corkys is supposed to be the best last i heard you can only get them second hand.
Matts is a copy of the TTE so pretty much a toyota product. Its excellent and should of been fitted OEM on all roadsters.
Makes the most difference to PFL but is good on FL too.
A must fit if you are going for coilovers imho.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Thanks for the reply - the website seems to indicate that you can still buy them new? Basically it's $166 for the breastplate - which is comparable to the Matt brace..

Haven't yet made the leap to coilovers! Small (cheaper) steps for now!

If your going corkys don't get the the Breast plate get the full midship brace with diaganals for the ultimate brace. Otherwise the two you are suggesting are different bolt points. The breast plate just replaces the middle bit where matts leaves that area alone and bolts just a cross brace in.

The breastplate replaces the OEM bits of tin. Matt's brace is used with the OEM left in place. Can't have both of them fitted.

The corky mid ship member brace (MSMB) is effectively a breastplate and Matt's brace combined so the best of both worlds.
Expensive if you can even get one. I have one on mine.

I would go for Matt's brace. Easier to get and I expect better than a breastplate as spans a bigger area.

If you do go for the Mattperformance brace it's well worth it. Best bang for your buck. Had one fitted to my 2003 FL a couple days ago and it made a hell of a difference. Not only just with cornering and stability but ride quality as well.

Thanks for all the input folks!
I shall investigate the matt brace route... it's a pity they aren't compatible as the cost of both of them is less than the full brace from Corky.

Oh and I've discovered a new place for "drives"... the roads around Sao Paulo... the drivers all seem to cut each other up (under cutting is the norm), the roads are of decent quality - seriously you could have a blast here, not sure how you'd get your 2 here though!

Here's a comparison from when I changed my Corky breastplate to Matt's brace, as you can see (and as has been suggested) they're quite different:

Wow - that's really useful! Didn't quite grasp the size of everything... what are your thoughts on the difference going from corky breastplate to matt brace?
