Front off side calliper is sticking so I've ordered a new one plus discs and pads. The 17mm bolts that hold the carrier on do not have the thick washer I saw on the how to video on you tube. Is this an issue?

They should have the washer.  The washers give a more reliable fastening.

Ordering a caliper because one is sticking seems a little premature.  More often than not a good clean and lube of the sliders will sort it.

Calipers are very much serviceable items.

I couldn't compress the piston. Sliders were sticky, fixed that.  Disc is shot, pads were jammed solid in the carrier. Bit of a mess really.
Where can I get the washers?  Looks like they are about 10mm thick

I'd do an ebay search for M10 heavy duty washers. I take it you meant 1.0mm thick??

The ones in the video are easily 10mm of course I don't know if they're correct

Carolyn

Now I'm confused.

10mm thick is more a collar than a washer?  Forgive me for asking; you're not referring to the internal diameter are you?

Either way, I've seen quite a few brakes on these cars and not seen other than a heavy duty M10 washer.

Not those, Jase.  The OP is asking about the bigger ones that bolt the caliper to the car.

I've got my blue car on the lift I'll pull one of the bolts in the morning and check the whether it's M10 or M12.  I had calipers off a few days ago and can't recall.... getting old. But either way - there's nothing that thick

I've had a look at the video. They do have quite thick washers on them. More like about 4mm thick.  I would think any heavy duty washer would suffice.

(Include the link next time!!!) ;D

Edit: My Blue car is pre-facelift the one on the video is a 2003, which would be a facelift.  It is also a 'Spyder' which was sold on the american market, which might account for some differences.

Anyway, my blue car does not have the thick washers;  just flanged bolts.  My silver car is the same.

So I wouldn't be concerned if I were you.

I now have a front caliper off the blue car for an overhaul.  M12 fine thread flanged bolts.  Not fat washers.
