Hi All,

Please could someone tell me if when winding the pistons back in on the rear calipers, should the piston eventually come to a stop and stop being allowed to turn?

Mine seem to wind back in until they are about flush with the rubber seal and then continue to rotate once fully compressed.

TIA

Carolyn

I believe that they can go far enough in to dis-engage with the adjusting screw mechanism.

That's why people advise to wind out one turn after winding in.

Thanks Carolyn, I was expecting that the piston would top turning when it was fully wound back. this doesn't seem to be the case.

I did wind the piston back out 180 degrees before refitting the pads but I wonder if I have not wound it out far enough to engage the adjusting screw. this would explain why I'm still having problems getting my handbrake to work properly after fitting new cables.  :(

It will continue to turn but won't actually go in any further into the caliper body.

Thanks, I was worried that I was either doing it wrong or that my calipers had something wrong with them. :)
