There is currently (5th May) an ad on e-bay for a 2004 model price £3685 which even with a hardtop and lowish milage seems high. Ad states 2 new rear tyres. I e-mailed mostly because the car is close to me geographically and asked what brand of tyre he had fitted. He replied Nova. Now is it me or is this a good way to find a ditch?Could selling such a car land you with legal problems if it did find a ditch? Opinions on price?

If the tyres are road legal then it's up to the owner what brand they put on/how they drive the car accordingly , IMO

That price is around what I payed in June 2011 for a 2002 model. At that time it was around the " right" price according to " Used car Expert".

Not on line at the moment.

As for the "wrong" tyres, I believe " Buyer beware" / be aware, is the best advice.

Never heard of Nova tyres and I only fit quality tyre brands so for me it's a no.
Also if they scrimp on tyres which is the most important thing along with regular oil changes
what else have scrimped on.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Looked up the tyres and they appear to be retreads  :o Perfectly legal though!

Personally speaking and all things being equal, this still wouldn't put me off at least looking at the car. Would just have to budget for proper tyres obviously but then there is generally  going to be some expenses when you're looking to purchase any 15 year old car. Maybe tyre choice purely because they are getting rid off?   Last owner 14 years as well I think so should be easy to collate car's history.

Price-wise - is worth whatever someone is willing to pay I guess.

If they have bought literally the cheapest tyres possible to fit, then:

A. What else have they skimped on?
B. They don't care about the car at all.
or C. They have no money.

Any of the above would put me off buying any car.

Saw the ad for this and looked up the MOT history. Truth being bent a little and looks like one that will lead to a few sizeable bills...

Hadn't thought of looking up MOTs. The word corrosion does seem to occur a lot. How could you turn up for an MOT with the brake problems that caused it to fail?Seems like the car has been neglected.I was curious rather than interested and having run a lowered roadster for some time the standard cars look too high so if I bought a newer roadster the first thing would be new springs and shocks and the expense involved.
Thanks for comments re MOTs.
