Is the top gear of a 6 gear box longer than that of a 5 gear box?

Yup, 5th is the same in both cars, 6th is a taller ratio:

That could be useful as they are b------ noisy above 4000rpm.Trouble is I have a prefacelift which I have spent a bit of money on.I think someone somewhere does a 5 to 6 conversion. Maybe if my clutch goes.

The 'boxes are interchangeable.  Reverse is in the diagonally opposite corner on the gear lever, so the reverse lock-out mechanism on the 6 speed box is required. Some people reckon the gear lever cage is fractionally different.  If anyone does know what I'd be interested to know what.
