My First MR2 Service what do I need?

I am giving my 2000 PFL with 71K on the clock a good service.

I have never done one of these cars before so I would like to know the following please.....

What is the best Spark Plug to use?
I have a K&N air filter ready to fit,
5w30 Sythetic Oil (what the best to use and How much to I need)
Oil Filter
Engine flush
Is there a Cabin Filter on this car as it has aircon if so where is it?

Plugs doubke check but from memory
ngk bkr5e11 10 quid delivered
would gone stock air from mr t
oil mr Ts own at about £18 or fuchs titan super pro race s (or whever its called) at £50
And about anything inbetween, me fuchs super synth at £25. Very pleased with.
Quant. Oil n filter change = 3.7 litres.

flush, i wouldnt
cabin filter = no
whilst your at it.
do a maf clean and ecu reset. (Use the search)

I think an engine flux is essential with a PFL to ensure the holes in the pistons are flushed through to prevent them from blocking up!

Do you know if it has been serviced well up to now?

Not really only 3 stamps in book and some invoices from other garages saying service

No reason not to flush, provided you do it with care.  You don't sound like a beginner, so bear with me if I'm preaching to the converted.

Use a good quality product (such as Forte).  Do not rev the car while flushing, just let the idle do the job.  Jack the car up so you can get a bucket under the oil drain, as it will come out like water and splash out of anything shallow.  The lower the car to finish draining.

If the oil rings are stuck, this won't cure it, but a clean engine is a happy engine.

Do the air filter, in addition to the above items.

BTW.  There is no fuel temp sensor.  There's a coolant sensor and an inlet air sensor (built into the MAF, which is on the outlet of the air-box).  Check your oil level every week for a while.

This all really belongs in the maintenance section....

Toyota dealerships do a complete service kit for less than £40 this includes oil, oil filter, plugs, air filter and drain plug washer.

The oil they supply tends to be a semi synthetic, so you may want to upgrade.

The money is in the oil really. It's worth spending extra on. I didn't like the Toyota Economy 5w30 to be honest.

An engine flux capacitor is certainly essential on a De Lorean for time travel performance   s:wink: :wink: s:wink:
