Hi

I am about to buy a UK spec 2zz ecu for my swap project. Seller claims he can reset the immobilizer using Toyota Techstream so that I can program it to match my 1zz key/transponder simply by following a procedure he will explain to me. The procedure involves turning ignition on and off. I've been a member here for a while and on Spyderchat for many many years. I can't recall reading anything about such a procedure. But I have read a lot of threads stating always to buy the correct transponder with the ecu.

Will it work? 1zz mr2 key/transponder with celica 2zz ecu.

Får du ikke med nøkkel til hjernen?
Da kan du bruke den til å programmere dine nøkler til 2zz ECUen  (må ha en såkalt "Master" nøkkel fra 2zzen)

Det jeg håper på hvertfall...

Sorry for the Norwegian guys!!!

Yes, this works. It's what I have. The transponder is a fairly common Toyota part, but you do need it all matched - there are 2 types of transponder that work on different frequencies, and if you get the wrong type it won't work.

I can't find the coding instructions right now. there are 2 sequences: One to code the Transponder to the immobiliser. The other to code the key fob to the alarm. They're separate systems.

Doesnt headcase sort this out for people?
2zz swaps arent my thing so im not sure why not send him a PM and ask.
Would trust a forum member over a random all day long.

You would be better sending your ECU to Headcase as he does it right. I haven't got a lot of faith with the eBay seller after he sent me some overpriced scrap.

Yes, and I bought a 2ZZ ECU from ebay and got a 1ZZ ECU in a 2ZZ Casing. You have to be careful. Headcase sorted it out for me by coding my 2ZZ ecu to my existing MR2 key.

I forgot about your dodge 1zz ecu bloody cheeky that was.
We all agree that you need to talk to headcase.
