Hi just wanting to get some opinions on this item

I've never modded a car but would like to tidy up the air intake using the above adaptor with some 3" silicone hose to take a cone style filter behind the the battery and above the LH air vent. Not interested in forcing the air just having the filter in this colder air area. Opinions welcome. Thanks in advance

That might be a touch too big, the standard piping is 70mm (2.75") so I guess the measurements would be off with a larger pipe for the MAF.

Thanks for info. I'm offshore at the mo so just passing time looking at various scenarios. I figured the right size MAF adaptor then silicone pipe to filter behind battery would be a straightforward job. Got worried as I looked at various threads and started reading about ECU issues etc etc.

I had a bit of old after market intake left over from an old Celica which I used to mount the MAF.

I got this filter

and this hose (needed a 45° bend as the throttle body is slightly angled up)

The filter sits nicely in front of the battery in behind the side vent. Intake temps stay very low   s:D :D s:D

Oh, and it likes to roar above 4k rpm   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

Unless you are running some serious level of tune, you are not going to need that in your setup. It has the potential to cause problems with MAF calibration.
Ex 2GR-FE roadster. Sold it. Idiot.  Now Jaguar XE-S 380. Officially over by the bins.
