Still a bit new to all this IT malarkey so bear with me pls.
I'm doing a 2zz turbo and am nearly there with it, something that I may have over looked was the clutch
whats your thoughts on this offering from ACT I know its very expensive so I guess its great but need to know how it is to live with daily. I will be tracking the car also so want something that's good for both.
thanks in advance   s:D :D s:D

How much power and torque are you expecting to make?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The HDSS is a pain in the ass on a daily & although the pressure plates are the same, engagement on the g6 disc will be very harsh in comparison. As above, what kind of power are you aiming for & how will the car be driven 90% of the time?

I always maintained that the SPSS was an ideal setup for a rotrex'd 2zz on a daily but you're obviously running turbo so will have that lower torque hit to deal with.

It's hard to know what to recommend because it's very easy to ruin the feel of the car with a bad clutch decision. They should feel nimble & light on the controls, unfortunately the majority of these clutch offerings don't give you that :/

in all honesty I will only be running a stock motor and have been told to expect around the 300-315 area. not sure on the torque though, I've been told it would be more than a rotrexed 2zz although I'm not sure why.
the reality is that once I get the sign of any unwanted smoke/engine wear I will have it built so would be considerably more power/torque.
I have the clutch offered to me for a song and couldn't say no to be honest. how bad would it be to live with do you think, I'm aware the peddle may be a bit harder to push down but don't really want to have to launch it to set off without stalling if you know what I mean...that would look a bit silly leaving the local B&Q.

it would be around the 300 point I would guess. I have no idea on a torque figure though, the engine will end up built eventually so will run more power the. don't want to look a clown pulling away at high revs at every junction to avoid stalling   s:o :o s:o

You do get use to a heavy clutch, eventually. But it is also nice to know you can also drop it and your gone.

You should have some idea of torque so that you dont fry the gearbox.
240-250 ftlb is considered the limit for our c series boxes.
From memory rotrex 2zz can make 300 odd bhp without getting close to this.
Have seen dynos where they make less torque than my 235 bhp 1zz turbo however i dont think i have seen a high power 2zz turbo build.

You dont want a clutch that far exeeds your ultimate power and torque goals generally they just make cars a pig to drive around town. If its a track car build different rules apply.

I used one of these:  m http://www.clutchmasters.com/fx400-16080-hdc6/ m  in my 350BHP Celica GT-Four (3S-GTE).

Cannot recommend it enough - truly. OEM pedal weight, and I must have put over 300 7,000RPM 4WD launches through it and it didn't skip a beat in 3 years I had it. Fit and forget, but still takes the abuse.

Not sure if this info is of any use to you as I'm new to the roadster and don't know a great deal about the 2zz. I have however had experience of a few nicely powered Imprezas (300bhp+) in the past and have had all of them fitted with Exedy sports organic clutches which were very good. I've tried their paddle clutch but didn't get on with it as the car was used for every day as well as track - the mrs hated the judder. Might be worth a look.
