Tein Springs Fitted

What a difference, I had adjustable coilovers on my last '2 and the ride was really firm, the ride on the Tein's is fantastic.

Car feels so much more planted, takes away all sketchiness and removes any light steering feel, especially at higher speeds. Plus it looks better! There can't be a better mod for the money!?

With your comments and my lovely day out with the other northern members Sunday, I think I'm 100% certain I will get these put on.

Any comments on whether it would be ok with standard (old) dampers?

Looks good! Very few seem to regret fitting Tein/TTE/FK springs. Did you literally just swap the springs, not the shocks etc etc? Most do this and are still v happy.

Yep,  just swapped over with the standard springs. It is supposed to shorten the lifespan of the shocks so will keep a closer eye on them than normal.

That's what I was worried about. On my 111k miler I think I might wait until I have enough pennies saved up for a full replacement of shocks/springs.

There was a subsequent problem which came to light on the run out in feb which was down to a fitting error
Will mention to the workshop manager in may

what was the problem mate? What exactly did you feel benefit-wise? Less roll?

Less roll and could power out of corners better. Little dif in ride comfort.
Problem was the top mounting on the front has two discs, one with a notch and one with a slot to accommodate it.
DT had fitted with the notch not in the slot, out by about 3mm
On heavy braking (heading towards your home town ) the discs moved and the notch fell into the slott thus producing some slack in the mounting and a resulting knock
Took ages to discover what had happened but an easy fix

Gotcha! Springs are on my list for the future  s:) s:)  seems like just about everyone who fits them doesn't regret it

You don't have to answer this, but what about increased insurance costs? I asked my insurance company (LVE) about fitting TTE springs and they said would be extra £50 per year so I'm holding fire for the moment.

I changed my insurance and my wifes in feb, we have 4 cars between us and got a quote then another declaring all the mods to the 2
Made about £15 difference a year
If it makes little dif to the performance of the car they should only be considering if it adds value
But as we all know they are a law unto themselves  s:twisted: :twisted: s:twisted:

On my previous 2 I told them it was a Toyota product and with LV at that time it was no additional cost, was 3 years ago though

Where's the cheapest place to buy these Tein springs or even just point me in the direction where I can buy some please? I need some too but mine needs the KYB Excel shocks all round - my standard shocks are solid at the back but really bouncy on the front lol.

I recently got a new set for around the £120 mark. I got them from an eBay seller, but you can get them from the likes of Demon tweeks or mr2-ben for a similar price.

Just to confirm -

These are the Green Tein "S" springs with the black rubbery bits on them?

I have seen variable reports, however they seem to be relating to the MK2 MR2 springs.

If these ones are good then they are definately on the list for July lol  s:) s:)

Yes, the S Tech Teins are green with black rubbers. Have them on mine too and they are rather excellent!  s:) s:)
